Several Pentecostal organizations of ministers and churches came to existence in the 1920's. In 1945, the two largest organizations merged to form the United Pentecostal Church International.

The steps for the formation of a Kentucky District which would be a member of the United Pentecostal Church International, began February 28, 1952 at Carrollton, Kentucky. Kentucky was divided into two zones, known as the Eastern and the Western Section.

This would help it to begin its growth in becoming a self supporting district of the United Pentecostal Church, known as the Kentucky District.

At Lexington on October 6, 1952, the District was divided into three sections. There were

Section 1, Madisonville area,

Section 2 Louisville area, and

Section 3, Duval Valley area.

The date April 6, 1953 marks the time that all ministers were thankful for. It was at this Conference that a petition was signed by 18 ministers to be sent to the U.P.C. Headquarters for Kentucky to be given the authority to be organized as a District.

The petition read as follows:

We, the affiliated ministers of the United Pentecostal Church in the state of Kentucky are interested in the formal organization of said state as another District of the United Pentecostal Church, Inc. which has General Headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, this day of April 7, 1953 at this state conference, Claywell, Kentucky

Madisonville, Kentucky, June 10, 1954 was the place and date that  the Kentucky District was divided into six (6) sections.

There were as follows:

Section 1 Madisonville area,

Section 2 Hopkinsville area,

Section 3 Louisville area,

Section 4 Claywell area,

Section 5 Lexington area, and

Section 6 Ashland area.

Then came the day, November 10, 1954, our Kentucky District was organized.

In the early 1970's, the Kentucky District was divided into six (6) sections as
U-N-I-T-E-D,
symbolizing the states' motto, "United we stand, divided we fall".
